Salary:                          Business Support Scale 6, Points 23-25

                 From £27,382 - £29,212 per annum pro rata 

Contract:                     NSG Business Support, Full Time, Maternity Cover

Hours:                          37 hours per week

Annual Leave:            30 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

About the College

  • Middlesbrough College is the largest General Further Education College in the Tees Valley and has been situated in Middlehaven, Middlesbrough, since 2008.  It has developed from the initial main site to the vibrant campus that is now in place with our Campus Heart, dedicated Sixth Form, STEM Centre, Higher Education Centre, and further development for our apprentices in progress.   

 

  • The College provides excellent facilities for approximately 13,000 students from across the region and whilst we are very proud of our campus and the equipment our students have access to, we are clear that it is the experience and dedication of our staff that make a positive difference to the lives of our students, helping them to achieve their educational goals and progress into work, higher education, or apprenticeships.   

 

  • In 2020/2021, 96% of learners following a study programme attained a positive destination into further training, apprenticeship, or employment.   In the 2022 student exit survey, 91% of respondents agreed that their course was helping them to develop the skills they needed to get a job in the future. 

 

  • We employ over 1000 staff and are committed to our staff’s development; we have a wide range of continuous professional development opportunities including a bespoke Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) programme for our aspiring and existing leaders.  Opportunities to achieve Assessor and Teaching Qualifications as well as role specific Professional Qualifications.   

 

  • Our teaching staff are supported through our Taking Teaching Higher strategy that focuses on ensuring practitioners have the skill set to utilise up to date evidence-based practice, innovate through technology enhanced learning and have access to relevant continuous professional development opportunities. 

 

  • The College offers free membership to its gym for all staff as well as discounted rates in the Hair and Beauty salons, and staff sports sessions such as five aside football, Pilates, and badminton.  The College has an employee assistance programme that provides support to both staff and their families. 

 

About the role  

The Executive Assistant will provide support to the Principalship and Senior Leadership Team - predominantly focussed on supporting the Principal/Chief Executive in their day-to-day activities and ad-hoc work requests. The Executive Assistant provides line management to the Principalship Support Team.

Qualifications

  • To have a minimum of a level 2 qualification.

Skills & Abilities

  • To have good Interpersonal, team working and customer service skills.
  • To have very good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and high customer/quality expectations.
  • To be reactive to quickly shifting priorities in a fast-paced FE environment
  • To have excellent digital skills.
  • To have a strong customer focus, be polite and courteous and have a professional manner.
  • To have a high attention to detail and be well organised.
  • To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults within the College.
